If you are experiencing tinnitus - the sensation of hearing ringing, buzzing, humming, hissing or other sounds - you are not alone and help is available. If you haven’t had a hearing test recently, that’s a great place to start. If a hearing loss is identified and hearing aids are recommended, your hearing care professional will review the options with you and, based on your feedback, help select a solution that will also provide relief from your tinnitus.

One option that may help relieve tinnitus is Oticon Tinnitus SoundSupport, a feature available in many Oticon hearing aids. It uses gentle, customizable relief sounds—such as white noise or soothing ocean‑like sounds—to help mask or shift attention away from tinnitus. Over time, these sounds can help reduce how noticeable tinnitus feels and support the brain in adapting to it.

Once your Oticon hearing aids have been fitted in the clinic, your hearing care professional will activate the Tinnitus SoundSupport feature within a dedicated program. After it’s enabled, you can easily access and control this program through the Oticon Companion app, which can be downloaded on your smartphone or tablet.

When the app has been downloaded, you can access the Tinnitus SoundSupport program by following the below steps:

Access Sound Settings: On the main screen, tap the Sound tab.

  1. Select Program: Tap the program selector (often a down arrow) to choose your Tinnitus SoundSupport program.

  2. Adjust Relief Sound:

  3. Tap the Sound tab (or the sound icon) to find the relief sound controls.

  4. Use the slider to increase or decrease the volume of the tinnitus relief sound (e.g., ocean, white noise).

  2. Use the slider to control the volume of sounds in your environment.

Change Sound Patterns:

  1. Tap the sound icon on the tab bar to access sound controls.

  2. Choose different pulsation patterns or sound types (like ocean sounds or steady noise) for varied relief.
