Companion App: How to Change the Volume and Programs Print

Below are the steps needed to change the volume and programs using the Oticon Companion App.

To change Volume or Mute your hearing aids using the Companion App:

  1. Open the Companion App on your device.

  2. Once open, tap the Sound icon at the very bottom, left hand side of the screen (shown in dark grey in picture below):

  3. If you have two hearing aids you can change the volume on your hearing aids independently or together. For the majority of individuals, you will want to change the volume of your hearing aids together. To ensure you are changing the volume on both aids together, you want to see only one pink/grey bar on the screen as pictured below.

  1. You can change from one pink/grey bar to two bars via the second round button from the left highlighted in pink. To change your hearing aid volume independently, you will want to see a left pink/grey bar marked with an L and a right pink/grey bar marked with an R as shown in picture below.

  1. Now, you can go ahead and make the volume change by tapping the plus (plus) button at the top of the bar to raise the volume, or by tapping the minus (minus) button at the bottom of the bar to decrease the volume as shown in picture below.

  1. 0 is your default setting. Your hearing aid will always turn on at 0, and you can either raise or lower your volume from there.

  2. Muting your hearing aids will instantaneously stop all sounds from being amplified. An example of when you might want to do this could be a very loud alarm bell suddenly going off. To MUTE your hearing aids simply tap the MUTE button which is the far left button located directly below the pink/gray bar. It will have a speaker icon with an X (as pictured in diagram below).

  1. Your default Program will always be General so your hearing aid will always turn on in the General program, and you can change to a different program form there.

  2. Some Programs will allow you to change the volume in Streaming vs. Surroundings like in the TV Adapter/EduMic Program or Reliever vs. Surrounding Sounds like in the Tinnitus Sounds Program (as pictured below).

To change the volume of the surrounding sound, (environmental sound), select Surroundings and then tap the (plus) sign to increase the volume, or the (minus) sign to decrease the volume.
