Step 1. Stay Calm. While it is rare, there are times a dome may have loosened grip from the hearing aid and stayed in your ear canal.

  • DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE IT YOURSELF.

  • DO NOT put the hearing aid or anything else into your ear canal.

Step 2. If someone with you can easily see the dome at the opening of your ear canal, they can attempt to grab the dome with their clean fingers.

  • DO NOT LET A NON-MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL use any tools to try to extract the dome.

Step 3. Contact your hearing clinic and schedule an appointment to have it removed, or visit the clinic during their daily walk-in hour. It is ok for the dome to stay in your ear a short time until you are able to have it safely removed.
